You’ll Never Guess

Well. This is pretty unexpected.

No … this is fucking weird! It just shows that no matter how much bullshit you disseminate, once in a while you can slip up and say something true if you’re not careful.

Rumsfeld: Looting Is Transition To Freedom

Daily Kos * Thu Apr 30, 2015 at 05:13 AM PDT

Story by Pamela Hess, UPI Pentagon Correspondent [not The Onion]

block quote

Freedom’s untidy. And free people are free to make mistakes and commit crimes and do bad things. They’re also free to live their lives and do wonderful things. And that’s what’s going to happen here,” Rumsfeld said.

Furthermore:

“While no one condones looting, on the other hand, one can understand the pent-up feelings that may result from decades of repression and people who have had members of their family killed by that regime, for them to be taking their feelings out on that regime,” he said. “And I don’t think there’s anyone in any of those pictures … (who wouldn’t) accept it as part of the price of getting from a repressed regime to freedom.”

Donald Rumsfeld, in his own words, twelve years ago (April 11, 2003).

That is all.

About l. l. frederick

I'm pretty ordinary, so I find any number of things in the world interesting, among them: books, music, flowers, food, social justice, politics and (sometimes!) people. As for my writing, I've decided that I can be subtle and tasteful when our only problems are esthetic ones. Or when I'm dead, whichever comes first. In the meantime, read at your own risk.

  1. I doubt he’s referring to the US when he says “that regime.” The US criminal elite has a long history of supporting insurrection in countries unfavorable to Wall Street.

  3. A great discovery, Linda! (I think Dr. B must be correct, and I have to agree with Frank…)

    • No argument, Carol. Our fearsome leaders sometimes remind me of Christian fundamentalists (or Humpty Dumpty?) as they tell us that everything in their bible is literally true, except when they say it isn’t. Looting in Iraq or Ukraine is COMPLETELY!! different from looting in Baltimore. Lucky we have all these experts to tell us what’s what, I guess. Thanks for your comment! – Linda
